Mohammed Al Muzarrab, Director of Rail Operations Department at Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), revealed to Emirates Today that a number of qualitative features will distinguish smart gates at Dubai Metro stations on the Expo 2020 route, led by the presence of a 3D camera that reads sizes Persons crossing through the gate, including baby carriages, allow them sufficient time to pass, because they will not be programmed to close within a predetermined time period.

He said the new generation of gates, which will be installed at the seven stations on the Expo Metro line, is designed to ensure ease and smooth use, and will provide a higher degree of safety during the entry and exit of passengers, because of the presence of cameras.

Al-Mudarrab pointed out three basic features that exist in the new gates, among them that they are 30% smaller than the existing gates, in favor of increasing the area allocated for the passage of passengers. The capacity of the stations that will then be able to receive more passengers.

The second feature relates to the location of the sensors in the existing gates on the sides, allowing them to be opened when a Nol card is scanned. He explained that the presence of sensors in the new gates will be up through the cameras.

The cameras are capable of recognizing faces, distinguishing between people and objects, and storing in their system the forms allowed to pass at the same time, so as not to allow more than one person to pass, but the gate does not close when the child passes in the cart.

The third feature is LED lighting, which shows the direction of the gates if they are available or not, according to the perception that the system of using the existing gates in some stations, allows the use of gates in both directions, in and out, compared to the presence of clear and scanning the path in the new gates , Which will make it easier for the passenger to choose the available gate before arrival, as open gates in the direction required for the passenger will be lit in green.
